Pot shop defies city, opens and sells out

Pressed on by some legal advice that considers the city's moratorium on marijuana retail stores to be invalid -- and ignoring its lack of a Goldendale city business license or fulfillment of building requirements -- the Golden Dispensaries Cannabis Retail Store opened Saturday. Reports are that it sold out of its limited product very quickly.

The opening was something of a warning shot across the city's bow, according to sources close to the matter.

While the city administration and police were aware that the shop intended to open Saturday, no action was taken and no law enforcement presence was seen at the location that day.
