Chitwins wear down Cougars for 62-42 win at Taholah

The final score of Taholah 62 and Lyle-Wishram 42 doesn’t come close to telling the story of a game that was in some ways typical of eight man football and yet it was also as bizarre as a game at Taholah can tend to be.

The Cougars loaded up at 7 a.m. for the 6-hour drive to the coastal town of Taholah, located on the southern part of the Olympic Peninsula. They arrived an hour before game time and settled in for a track meet on a football field. Lyle-Wishram scored first, fell behind by 18 at the half and drew to within two at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
