Seven people hurt in collision on SR97


Speed was listed as the cause of an accident on SR14 that sent seven Yakima residents to the hospital, Friday night. According to the Washington State Patrol report, Laura Chavez, 35 was driving a 2000 GMC Yukon southbound on SR14 when she entered a right hand turn too fast for conditions and spun out of control into the northbound lane where they collided with a 2004 Honda Civic driven by Katrina Johnson, 46.

The accident took place at mile post 33 around 8 p.m. Chavez and two passengers were transported to KVH in Goldendale for treatment. The other three passengers in Chavez’s car were transported to Yakima Regional Medical Center, as was Johnson.
