Snow no equalizer as Lummi plows through Lyle-Wishram for 52-0 win

SNOW CATS: Gabe Montoya got a face full of snow, as the Blackhawk defense seemed unfazed by the snow.

The football field at Lyle was a rare spectacle last Friday night. A thick blanket of snow interrupted by lines plowed out around the perimeter and across the field in 5-yard intervals.

The prospects of playing in the cold, snowy conditions didn't seem to dampen the enthusiasm of the Lummi Blackhawks, who made the long trip from near Bellingham to advance to the State 1B quarterfinals in 8-man football. The team who was expected to have a potent passing game on display, got things done on the ground for a 52-0 win over Lyle-Wishram.
