Help to improve the health of your forest, meeting Dec. 9

Mt. Adams Chapter of the Washington Farm Forest Association (WFFA) is hosting a meeting on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the White Salmon Library. The USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) will talk about their cost share programs to help small forest owners maintain a healthy forest. Also, Nate Ulrich of Mt. Adams Resource Stewards (MARS) will talk about their system to connect forest owners with service providers with expertise in all aspects of forest management. Finding the right resources to help a small forest owner and funding are key to maintaining a healthy forest for many small forest owners. Anyone interested is invited to come and hear what NRCS and MARS can do to help keep a happy, healthy forest.

The Mt. Adams Chapter of WFFA was formed in 2011 for small forest owners to learn from each other and professionals about concerns like fire and insect threats and best practices for forest and wildlife management. To join the Mt. Adams Chapter, contact Sherry Penney at (509) 493-1384 or email
