Washington girls can have fun with code

Google is doing a special program with the National Park Foundation that will give girls in Washington State the chance to have their work on display in the other Washington, for the annual tree lighting ceremony with President Obama.

This year, the holidays are made with code! Starting Dec. 2, kids can go to and use Blockley, an introductory programming language, to code Christmas lights, a snowflake, or even a yeti. If they choose to code lights, their work will be displayed on Washington state’s designated tree throughout the month of December.

Made with Code is an initiative designed to show girls the fun and creative things they can do with computer science.
