50 Years Ago - December 17, 1964

• WOW! was the reaction of Klickitat County citizens as they peered at their thermometers to find the mercury had fallen to a minus 8 degrees below zero. Darland said the lowest temperature in his records is a minus 29, which was the lowest between 1931 and 1952. In 1957, a minus 26 was recorded. Since then only three times has the temperature gone below zero. In 1960, a minus 2 and 4, 1963 produced lows of minus 3 and 5.
