Split results for Lady Pirates in season openers


Bickleton’s girls fought off nervousness in their opening game at Granger and came away with a 36-26 win over the Spartan JV squad. Coach Teresa Gannon said nervous jitters led to 43 turnovers for the Bickleton girls as they scored just two points in the first quarter. Things settled down in the second quarter as the girls went on a 14-3 spree, taking the lead for good. Lindsay Brown scored a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds for Bickleton. She also had four blocks for the Pirates. Jaycee Alexander had 12 rebounds and Kira Harvey led the team with five assists to go with six points.
