~Remembering the 1964 Flood ~

The event started on Thursday, Dec. 17, when the temperature was 15 degrees below zero in Goldendale. High for the day was about zero with one and a half inches of dry snow covering the ground. Friday was a little warmer and added two inches of snow. Saturday was, again, somewhat warmer and added three more inches of snow. Sunday, the high was a “balmy” 29 degrees, with a steady snow. Monday evening the snow became rain which saturated the 10 inches of snow, and caused havoc throughout the county.
