Walter Brost


Walter Brost was born in Crystal Springs, North Dakota on September 3, 1927 to Selma (Bibitski) and William Brost. He served in the United States Navy and married Donna Henle in Toppenish on July 1, 1949. Walt worked for Broughton Lumber Co. then for The US Department of Fish and Wildlife in Willard, Washington. In retirement they moved to Goldendale in 1990 and worked for Erdman Funeral Home for 12 years and also helped his granddaughter on the ranch.

Walt enjoyed gardening, woodworking, photography, cooking and playing cribbage. He also loved outdoor activities backpacking, hiking, fishing and hunting. Mr. Brost was a member of the American Legion, Elks and the Methodist Church.

He passed away at his home in Goldendale on December 27, 2014 at the age of 87.

Walt is survived by his wife Donna; daughters Lauri Davenport of Goldendale and Peggy and Tim Farrell of Mill A, Washington; granddaughter Jess Davenport of Goldendale; brother Earl (Barbara) Brost of Toppenish and Leona Bouchey of Yakima. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Goldendale. Interment will be private.
