Lady Wolves falter in pair of SCAC league games


It was expected to be a difficult weekend for Goldendale’s girls, taking on two of the upper echelon teams in the SCAC in Zillah and Naches Valley. The results were a pair of losses by lopsided scores, 65-32 to Zillah and 59-27 to the Rangers.

Zillah jumped to a quick 8-0 lead as the Lady Timberwolves took time getting up to game speed. Early turnovers allowed the Leopards to forge a 21-7 lead by the end of the first quarter. Goldendale got that part of their game under control through the middle quarters and Cheyenne Smith kept the game from getting out of hand early, scoring eight points in the second quarter.

Neither team shot well in the third quarter, a combined 6-26. But the 10-6...
