Homecoming week arrives, events planned

The much-awaited homecoming week has arrived in Glenwood! Throughout the week, students will show their school spirit by participating in numerous special activities. The hallway near the gym will be decorated in a wild-west theme. Each day students and staff will dress based on the following themes: Monday – pajama day; Tuesday – Disney day; Wednesday – sports team day; Thursday – crazy hat and socks day; and Friday – school colors day. Special assemblies will be held daily with fun activities for students to participate in as well. Friday night, everyone is encouraged to cheer on the boys’ basketball team as they take on Yakama Tribal in the big game at 7:30 p.m. A king and queen will be announced from among the homecoming court including Greg Dechand and Reyauna Guzman, Tanner Montgomery and Tamaira Huffsmith, Garrett Upton and Madi Couch and Baylee Couch and Becca Hallenbeck. The final activity of the week will be the wild-west themed homecoming dance.

Glenwood’s Women’s Club has announced that Bingo will be cancelled until further notice. Instead, pinochle will be held every Friday at 7 p.m. at the Glenwood Grange. The Friday evening games are a fun way to pass long winter evenings.

For those wishing to rent the Grange facility, please contact Lois Dechand 364-3355, Mary Pierce 364-3344, Kathy Rolph 364-3359 or Mt. Adams Resource Stewards 364-4110 to make your reservations.

The Glenwood Homemakers are publishing a local cookbook this spring. If you would like to include a family-favorite recipe or recipes in the new cookbook, please contact Marlene Dewey 364-4146, Laurene Eldred 364-3495, or Chris Miller 364-3427, for instructions on submitting your entries. The deadline for submitting recipes is March 1; and the cookbooks are anticipated to be done by rodeo time in mid-June.

We’re hoping that Mary Pierce will be feeling much better as she recovers from surgery!
