KLASAC emphasis on alcohol sales

KLASAC, the Klickitat-Lyle Against Substance Abuse Coalition announced there will be compliance checks conducted at local alcohol retail outlets from now through June. The action is being taken in partnership with the Klickitat County Sheriff’s Department and the Washington State Liquor Control Board, according to the release.

Businesses that are found to illegally sell alcohol to any person under 21 is subject to fines and license suspension. Repeated violations can result in revocation of license.

KLASAC says that consistent enforcement of laws related to alcohol and minors is proven to reduce youth access to alcohol and therefore youth drinking rates in communities. Checking for ID sends the message to youth that we care about them, says the news release.
