District battle fuels Bickleton, Lyle-Wishram rivalry and elimination from Regional run

Sunnyside Christian boys and girls were undefeated during weekend games in the District 5, 1B tournament, punching their tickets to the next round of play. Two teams were eliminated. Yakama Nation's girls' team bowed out when Bickleton defeated them 54-53, and Lyle-Wishram's boys were upset by Bickleton 59-55, putting an end to their season.

Tuesday was final qualifier night for teams to join Sunnyside Christian in extending their season. Results were not available by press time.

Key games in the District playoffs centered on Bickleton versus Lyle-Wishram. During the regular season, the Lady Pirates swept Lyle-Wishram and the Cougar boys took both games against Bickleton.
