Why I'm not a Chamber member


To the Editor:

Last week, in light of a recent rule change at our Chamber of Commerce, I decided that I would not continue my membership. The chamber decided to pass a rule to exclude any business that is involved with marijuana. I don’t care what a business sells, nor do I even know if any such businesses had an interest in joining the Chamber of Commerce. This has nothing to do with marijuana, but I don’t believe it is the role of the Chamber of Commerce to decide what businesses to allow and which to exclude based on whether or not they deem it to be offensive. If a business has a state business license, they ought to be allowed to join, despite who is offended by what they sell...
