What happened at the jail

 


A Lyle man became suspicious when he discovered some of his belongings sitting near his open front door, after returning from a brief visit to a neighbor, Sunday.

Fearing an intruder might be in the house, the man went to a neighbor and called the Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Fred Kilian responded with back-up from Bingen/White Salmon police and later, Deputy Frank Randle.

Upon investigation, the house was found to be empty. The deputies identified Michael Sampson, 28, of Lyle to be a suspect. The met Sampson at a home in Lyle where they were able to identify a number of stolen items in Sampson’s possession, including a pocket knife with the victim’s name on it and the victim’s car ke...
