Neah Bay surge ends Bickleton playoff run


Bickleton’s run to State came to a halt, Saturday, with a 52-36 loss to Neah Bay in a girls’ Regional basketball playoff game at Mt. Tahoma High School. The Red Devils overwhelmed the Lady Pirates with their inside game, building a 14 point lead in the first quarter before Bickleton was able to settle into the game.

Bickleton couldn’t get shots to drop in the first half, allowing Neah Bay to expand the lead to 18 at the break. Coach Theresa Gannon had no explanation for the slow start, as the team was up for the game when they left the bus, but “didn’t play normal,” during the opening half.

The team responded to the half-time pep talk and came out with a strong third quarter....
