Teams' top athletes back to defend their crowns in track and field

READY ON THE FIRING LINE: Goldendale tennis players took advantage of a nice day for practice last week. Coach Channon Bighorn has a young group this year with seven freshmen among the 16 players. There are six boys and 10 girls out for the team this year. Assisting Bighorn this year is Jen Lewis.

Rivalries add excitement to events and there are plenty brewing in track and field this year. Expect to see some new rivalries develop among Goldendale competitors, as only a handful of their top performers are back this year. There are important battles that will involve returners and maybe none more interesting than a battle between teammates Brian Golding and Jordan Brokaw in the hurdle events.

Golding, a junior, is at the top of the board for SCAC hurdlers. He set the best times of 2014 in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles. His 15.31 seconds in the 110 hurdles was set at the SCAC west sub-District, and his 39.33 seconds in the 300 hurdles was set at the State track and f...
