Inmate assaults keep GPD busy

A pair of assaults at the Klickitat County jail were the highlights of Goldendale Police activity last week. Courthouse disturbances, including jail incidents fall under the city police responsibility, according to Chief Rick Johnson.

Early last week, Officer Jay Hunziker investigated an assault that occurred in the visitation area of the jail. Marcus Madrid, who has been in the jail since 2013 assaulted another inmate who Madrid believed had been talking about him and disrespecting him. According to the report, Madrid confronted the other man in the visitation area and punched him several times before officers were able to intervene.
