Visibility of sheriff's deputies noted by public

Klickitat County Sheriff’s deputies Ben Corning and Pat Kaley stopped a car they observed weaving along Simcoe Mountain Road, around 2:50 a.m. on Friday morning. They arrested James Bush, 59, of Centerville for DUI after Bush failed the field sobriety test.

The next day, Deputy Tim Neher responded to a call of a man behaving strangely in Roosevelt. Neher discovered a man identified as Mark Hurford lying in the street. Hurford indicated he was hallucinating. The deputy assisted the man and took him to find his medications. In the process the man was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and was arrested.

Chief Criminal Deputy, Mike Kalio reports that their efforts to have a greater visible presence around the county has been noticed by the public. “We are getting positive feedback from the public,” says Kalio. “The deputies are working hard.”
