NOT JUST FOR SHOW: Nathan Powers posed for a picture standing under the high jump bar at 6-feet, 3-inches prior to making his attempts to jump over the bar. Undaunted by the challenge, Powers trotted back and cleared the bar on his second attempt.

Anyone looking for inspiration in this world can look to athletics for examples of people accomplishing somewhat unbelievable things. You don't have to go across the globe or look to professional athletes to find great accomplishments, they are happening right here and there are school kids doing them.

Consider Nathan Powers, of Bickleton and Alex Cloud with Lyle-Wishram. Both competed for their schools in the Sherman County Invitational track and field meet, last Saturday in Moro. Both turned in record performances, which is pretty much standard fare at track meets, people are always improving on their personal records. But, Saturday's performances were worth noting.
