Lady Cougars walk away with win over The Dalles JV

Too many free passes doomed The Dalles junior varsity softball team as they lost 18-8 to Lyle-Wishram in Dallesport, last Thursday. The Cougars made the most of 13 walks, four hit batters and three errors to beat the Riverhawks in spite of being out-hit 10-6.

Lyle-Wishram had a 4-0 lead after the first inning in which nine Cougars came to the plate without getting a hit. The Dalles took a 5-4 lead in the second inning after looking like they would go scoreless and strand two runners. Emma Weir struck out, but the ball got away from the Cougar catcher and Weir raced to first base to keep the inning alive. It would have been the third out. Instead, the next three batters singled in five run...
