Pirate boys win at Sherman County meet, Cloud ties Cougar vault record at 7-6

SOARING TO NEW HEIGHTS: Nathan Powers clears 6-foot, 3-inches in the high jump at Moro, setting a new personal record for the Bickleton junior. Powers won the event and just missed his next jump at 6-4.

Nathan Powers and Alex Cloud had banner days at the Sherman County Invitational track meet. Both athletes set three personal records (PR) on the day and Cloud, of Lyle-Wishram tied a school record in the pole vault. Cloud's 7-6 leap matched the record set by Elsa Hylton in 1992.

Cloud also added nearly four-feet to her PR in the javelin with a throw of 107-feet, 5-inches. It was the winning throw and the third time this year that Cloud has cracked the 100-foot mark. Her third PR of the day came in the 100 meters with a sixth place finish in 14.25 seconds.
