From the best seat in the house


It is always fun to second guess coaches at the professional level. Nobody gets hurt and it is a one sided debate between me and the television set.

This weekend I got to receive feedback in a way, after questioning the way the Seattle Mariners manager, Lloyd McClendon handles his closer, Fernando Rodney. I complained about it all summer long last year and I complained about it with Eric Wedge prior to McClendon.

On Sunday, McClendon brought Rodney in to pitch the ninth inning with a four run lead. He had Yoervis Medina warmed up, but instead he brought in Rodney in a non-save situation. Rodney got shelled and it cost Felix Hernandez his second win in as many starts. Nelson Cruz bailed ou...
