GMS students get training on tree planting



PLANTING AND LEARNING: Goldendale Middle School fifth graders were planting trees Thursday and hearing about proper tree planting procedures from Western Pacific Timber, the Department of Natural Resources, and the Central Klickitat Conservation District.

On Thursday, April 9, the fifth graders from Goldendale Middle School, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and the Central Klickitat Conservation District teamed up to plant trees west of Highway 97 in Western Pacific Timber's (WPT) Forest Land. Eric Beaker, representative from WPT, was on hand to give a demonstration on proper tree planting techniques. The DNR was available to show students their gear, fire engines, and the basic "how to's" on fire fighting.
