Gerchak's 81 best at SCAC meet


Goldendale golfers had their best outing of the year with three sub-ninety scores at Suntides Golf Course, producing wins over Naches Valley, Highland and Royal City.

Andrew Gerchak shot an 81 for the best round of the day to lead the Timberwolves. Bryce Wilkins’ 87, Daniel Wedgwood’s 89 and Jess Bierele’s 106 gave Goldendale a team score of 363. Only two other golfers shot under 100, Nathan Nulliner, of Naches Valley at 85 and team score 416, and Weston Waber, of Highland at 90 and team score 422. Royal scored 421 in the four way competition. Riley James shot a 111 for Goldendale.

The Goldendale girls were a player shy of a team. Emily Hurst shot a 112 for the fourth best individual score among 12 girls competing. Kathryn Hiebert shot 123 for sixth and Allyssa Madsen was in at 135 for ninth.

The team returns to Suntides on Wednesday against Cle Elum-Roslyn, Highland and La Salle. They travel to Big River Golf Course at Umatilla on Friday.
