Robotics team returns from World Tournament



Finishing well: Goldendale High School's robotics team traveled to Louisville, Ky, to compete in the Robotics World Championships. Although the team did not finish at the top, the team "represented Goldendale well," according to Matt Merfeld, Robotics team advisor.

During the week of April 14 -19, the Goldendale High School robotics team was in Louisville, Ky., competing in the Robotics World Tournament. Four hundred-fifty teams were randomly assigned to five different divisions of 90 each. They competed for two and a half days, 10 matches per robot, to determine ranking within each division.

The number one team then selected two robots to join them as a three team alliance, then number two did the same, and so on until the top eight teams had formed three robot alliances. These 24 robots then competed in a double elimination final to crown a division champion.
