Police confront 'suicide by cop' suspect


Goldendale police responded to a report of an unknown problem at the 100 block of West Brooks on May 2, 9 p.m. Upon arrival, officers Mike Smith and Chris Wyzykowski saw a man exit the passenger side of a vehicle. They recognized the man as Brandon Carver, 27. He was told to halt, but ignored the officers. According to Police Chief Rick Johnson, Carver is known to have threatened “suicide by cop” in the past. The officers approached with a taser and gun drawn as Carver reached into his coat, according to the report. He eventually showed his hands and was arrested.
