Golfers look to continue State run

TIMBERWOLF GOLFERS: Eight of the nine Goldendale golfers who will compete in sub-districts this year took a moment for a group photo while practicing on the fourth hole at Goldendale Golf Club. Goldendale golfers will make their bid for the State tournament beginning this week with sub-districts. The girls play on May 13, at Suntides golf course northwest of Yakima and the boys play at Desert Aire on May 14, at Mattawa.

Goldendale has been synonymous with championship level high school golf lately, thanks to four State titles and seven top five finishes between 2008 and 2014. Zach Wanderscheid was fifth in 2008 and first in 2009 and 2010. Bree Wanderscheid was second in 2011 and 2014 and first in 2012 and 2013. Goldendale has had at least one girl and two boys qualify for State every year since 2008.
