Post Office says accident means some mail for Klickitat County may go missing


The U.S. Postal Service Friday announced that a fiery traffic accident in Portland on May 20 will result in missing mail for much of the Columbia Gorge area, including Goldendale and other locations in Klickitat County.

Late in the evening last Wednesday in Portland, a postal contractor’s tractor-trailer transporting packages shipped from several Oregon postal facilities was hit head-on by a van. The collision killed the van driver and set the vehicles on fire. The driver of the USPS-contracted truck was rescued from the cab by a pair of good Samaritans and was transported to a Portland hospital for treatment.
