The Greatest Generation still seeks a lasting legacy


A couple of quotes come to mind contemplating Memorial Day and wondering how many people continue to see it as just a reason for a day off of work.

One is from the remarkable book Leaders Eat Last, a global best seller that ought to be required reading for anyone who wants to know how to run a business. In it, author Simon Sinek says of the Greatest Generation—the one that fought and lived through World War II—that it was willing to fight to protect a way of life. Making comparison, Sinek says subsequent generations were willing to fight to protect the way they preferred to live. That, he concludes, is one major reason why our society today often feels like a moral free-for-all.
