NOAA prediction continued warmer and dryer for Goldendale


According to preliminary data received by NOAA's National Weather Service in Pendleton Oregon, temperatures at Goldendale averaged warmer than normal during the month of May.

The average temperature was 57.7 degrees which was 3.9 degrees above normal. High Temperatures averaged 72.5 degrees, which was 5.0 degrees above normal. The highest was 88 degrees on May 30. Low temperatures averaged 42.8 degrees, which was 2.7 degrees above normal. The lowest was 28 degrees, on May 7.

There were two days with the low temperature below 32 degrees.

Precipitation totaled 0.61 inches during May, which was 0.41 inches below normal. Measurable precipitation-at least .01 inch-was received on 4 days with the heaviest, 0.42 inches reported on May 12.

Precipitation this year has reached 6.32 inches, which is 2.19 inches below normal. Since October, the water year precipitation at Goldendale has been 13.55 inches, which is 2.29 inches below normal.

The highest wind gust was 33 mph which occurred on May 4.

The outlook for June from NOAA's Climate Prediction Center calls for above normal temperatures and near to below normal precipitation. Normal highs for Goldendale rise from 71.0 degrees at the start of June to 81.0 degrees at the end of June. Normal lows rise from 44.0 degrees to 48.0 degrees. The 30 year normal precipitation is 0.47 inches.
