As I look upon your faces, I'm reminded of a nice cliche


You graduates stand there proudly, having completed your rigorous curricula, now poised to cast off from the shores of adolescence into the wayward waters of life. Be strong! Work hard! Remember all you’ve learned! And don’t be a cliche.

You know, like all the speeches you’ll hear at this time.

We’re not talking about the student speeches so much. And we’re not talking particularly about Goldendale or Klickitat County. Really, it’s more of a national phenomenon. It’s just astonishing how many adults give the most cliche-laden pep talks to graduating classes.
