Gerchak three strokes out of a top 10 at State

Andrew Gerchak had a solid two rounds of golf at the State 1A tournament in Pasco last week. The Goldendale sophomore shot 78 on his first round to easily qualify among the 44 finalist who teed off with an opportunity to win the tournament.

Gerchak was eight strokes behind the leader, Ryan Maine, of Freeman High School to start his second round. He shaved a stroke off in the second round and finished with a two round total of 155 and in 16th place.

Fellow SCAC west golfer, Nick Baker, of Cle Elum-Roslyn won the 1A title with a birdie on the third playoff hole. Maine finished second, both with scores of 140 over 18 holes.

This was Gerchak’s first appearance at State.
