From the best seat in the house


They couldn’t have asked for better weather for the Alder Creek Pioneer Picnic and Rodeo. No rain, not too hot and just enough entries to make it an enjoyable day. I missed Sunday, but Saturday had a good crowd in both bleachers, more than I recall for the past couple of years. It was a bit dusty...maybe saving water because of the drought. The winds were favorable for me, but at times it was hard to see the crowd.

The best part of this year’s rodeo, and I hope this was true for Sunday, was no serious injury. The stock was athletic and put on a good show without damage to themselves or the cowboys. The broncs were more gnarly than the bulls on Saturday. One thought he could run right...
