50 Years Ago - June 17, 1965

• Sale of the Ponderosa Motel was announced Wednesday by Roy Wylam, seller, and Lloyd and Kathryn Day, purchasers. The Days took immediate possession and management. Wylam had owned the motel since June 1, 1964, having purchased it from Ben F. Bush, its builder and first operator.

75 Years Ago - June 13, 1940

•Summer arrived in full force here Tuesday when the mercury in Edward Abeling’s official government thermometer skyrocketed to a high of 97 degrees in the shade. This temperature, according to Abeling is a near all time high for this early in the year. Temperatures were well above normal on Monday and Wednesday as well.

100 Years Ago - June 18, 1915

• Morginson and Loving of Lyle, have been awarded the contract for the building of the new school house at Lyle for $6,620. It will be a four room frame building. Work begun this week.

125 Years Ago - June 19, 1890

• W. B. Presby and Private Eddy had a little scrapping match on over an attempt of Presby to collect a bill from Eddy, when one word brought on another until finally they went to pawing the air in pugnacious style. The result was that a stray blow or two took Eddy on the nose and Presby’s frontispiece was liberally besmirched with paint.
