HEADING HOME: Amy Osborne relaxes on her ride as her horse plows its way around the final barrel at the Alder Creek Rodeo.

A good crowd nearly filled the bleachers at the 105th Alder Creek Pioneer Picnic and Rodeo. The payout for the Northwest Professional Rodeo Association event was $19,303.98 with 218 entries for the two-day rodeo.

Jake Davis was the big winner as the only person to have a full ride out of 11 entries in bull riding. The McCleary, Wash. cowboy drew a bull called Top Spin, and that he did. Davis held on as Top Spin made several quick spins in front of the chute to pick up $997.50 in prize money. Davis also won money as a novice saddle bronc rider.

Jim Jack Davenport also had a good payday in the cow milking contest, winning $931. Other event winners were Russell Cardoza in tie-down roping, John Hall in steer wrestling, Jordan Minor in breakaway roping, Sammi Lane in barrel racing, Fran Marchand in saddle bronc riding and Kyle Bounds in bareback riding. The winning team roping duo was Bubba Buckaloo (header) and Russell Cardoza (heeler). There was a spread of just 0.3 seconds from first through fourth place teams.
