A Winn is a winner at GoldenMan

FASTEST: Mark Winn leaves the pool-to-bike transition zone. Winn, the overall winner took over the race during the 14 mile bike ride.

It must have seemed like a walk in the park for Mark Winn, winner of the Goldendale GoldenMan Triathlon, Saturday. This was the second triathlon for Winn this month, the first being in San Francisco in the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon.

Winn, employed at the Washington Department of Transportation in Goldendale, moved north of town in November. He competed in his first triathlon four years ago at the age of 45, where he finished fourth. Winn says he was already a runner and rode bike, but he had to pick up swimming. Winn says, "You win races with the run, but you have to be fast on the bike." And Winn is fast on his bike. He rides a Cervelo, specially designed for triathlons. "The seat i...
