Horseshoe Fire near Mt. Adams still rages

FIRE IN THE WILDERNESS: The Horseshoe Fire on July 3 from high on Mt. Adams.

The Horseshoe Fire is in the Mt. Adams Wilderness Area and was spotted on July 3. It is being managed by Washington Interagency Incident Management Team 4.

The fire is on the west side of Mt. Adams in subalpine fir timber along Riley Camp Trail 64 at approximately 5,300 foot elevation. The southeastern portion of the fire includes the 2012 Cascade Creek fire.

Helicopters are working to check the spread of the fire with bucket drops while ground crews are sizing up the fire and evaluating direct and indirect containment line opportunities.
