Jon Lieurance

Jonathan Robert Lieurance died at his parent’s home June 29, 2015, at the age of 54.

Jon was born Nov. 8, 1960 in Roseburg, Oregon, to Robert and Jerrine (Sellers) Lieurance. He was the fourth of five children. He attended grade school in Coos Bay, Oregon; he briefly attended Goldendale High School, but graduated from Custer High School in Miles City, Montana. After graduation he worked a year as a ranch hand at Ravenscroft Cattle Ranch near Miles City. Then, he moved to Goldendale, WA to be near his grandparents. There, he married Ginger Fields, and later with their two children, they moved to the NW, WA area where they lived for several years.

When work became scarce Jon went to Prairie City, Oregon, and logged with his brother-in-law. It was during this time away that his marriage ended, so he moved back to Goldendale to be closer to his children. He worked as a mechanic, as well as operating heavy equipment and long haul truck driving—which he enjoyed very much. He photographed the most interesting and unusual sights he saw, often sharing the pictures with family and friends.

He loved God and enjoyed studying and discussing what he learned in scripture with anyone who would listen. Even though he struggled in his Christian walk, he never gave up what he believed. He took every opportunity to visit the many Trucker Chapels while he was on the road. When he was home he attended New Life Assembly of God church.

Jon had a brilliant mind, a curious nature, and had gifted hands. He loved learning and could amaze people with the depth of his knowledge and understanding of even the most complex topics. He was well read, having a photographic memory he learned quickly. Jon had an uncanny aptitude for fixing things, he was an excellent mechanic. He had a musical ear and hearing a melody once, he would immediately be able to pick up and play the bass line on his guitar. He could look at any design just a single time, and duplicate it in woodwork.

Jon is survived by his mother, Jeri Lieurance of Goldendale; his daughter Megan Lieurance-Gossman of Spokane, WA; his son Tate Jonathan Lieurance of Ft. Hood, TX; his sister Teresa Lieurance-Clyne of Goldendale; brothers Ted (Tanya) Lieurance of Boardman, OR; Tom (Janet) Lieurance of Goldendale; Patrick (Sheri) Lieurance of Marysville, WA; grandchildren Kaiden and Alice Gossman of Spokane; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Jon was preceded in death by his father.

A memorial service is pending.
