Phyllis Powell


Phyllis J. Powell went to join many friends and relatives June 30, 2015. Born September 23, 1928 in Minneapolis, Kansas she and her family moved to the Yakima Valley in the 1930’s. Phyllis went to school in Granger, Washington where she met and married in 1947, her husband of 68 years, Bob Powell. Together they raised their sons, Mike and Ron, in Grandview and 12 years later in Goldendale, Washington. After retirement they relocated to Yakima in 1998.

Serving God, her family, and church were first in her life. She was gifted with artistic talents on canvas and in her gardens, and a beautiful voice singing in church and community choirs.

Preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Phyllis is survived by her husband, two sons and their wives (Diane and Vickie), her sister and brother-in-law Clyde and Eva Henry, ten grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Monday, July 6, at Rainier Memorial Center, 2807 Terrace Heights Dr., Yakima, Washington.

Arrangements are by Rainier Memorial Center of Yakima.
