Weird World of Science day camp for kids Aug. 4-7 at Columbia Gorge Discovery Center



Trout Lake Fair turns 50: Make plans now to attend Trout Lake's annual fair, coming next weekend, July 31 through Aug. 2. The event kicks on Friday evening with a community potluck social at Elk Meadows RV Park. First thing Saturday, will be the Firemen's Breakfast, immediately followed by the 5k/10k/1-mile run. The annual parade begins at 11 a.m. Fair events begin at noon.

Columbia Gorge Discovery center hosts the Weird World of Science day camp for kids, Tuesday, Aug. 4 through Friday, Aug. 7 for children first to sixth grade. Kids will have fun while exploring the science behind the nature all around us.

Conducted by Education Director Steve Thompson, this four-day camp, Aug. 4-7, is offered in two sessions. Session 1 from 9 a.m. to noon is for ages first through third grade. Session 2 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. is geared for children fourth to sixth grade.

During this exciting hands-on day camp, kids will explore a different science topic each day. They will learn to make silly-putty, vinegar soda rockets, ice cream in zip lock bags, and play with frozen car...
