KCSO targets drinking and water safety

The Klickitat County Sheriff's Office is focusing on underage drinking and water safety this summer. It is as much an educational effort as it is law enforcement.

KCSO is working with the Klickitat Lyle Against Substance Abuse Coalition (KLASAC) team to combat alcohol and drug related problems among teens. To further the effort, posters, like the one at right, will be popping up around the county to caution about the danger of combining drinking and water sports.

The poster says, "Among adolescents and adults, alcohol use is involved in up to 70 percent of deaths associated with water recreation."

It also says that KCSO will be patrolling the Klickitat and White Salmon rivers for persons under 21 drinking alcohol. Violators will be arrested.
