Trout Lake Fair to honor three event pioneers



ROAD TO FUN: Saturday's parade takes fans and participants to the fair grounds at Jonah Ministries.

This weekend is the Trout Lake Fair. As is their tradition, those who have played a major role in the event are honored. This year's tribute is to Betty Schmid and Bernice Duke, credited with establishing the fair as an annual event, 50 years ago. Also honored will be Ray Thygesen, fair president from 2005-2014.

• July 31 - Community potluck social and dance at Elk Meadows RV Park 5:30 p.m.

• Aug. 1 - Fireman's breakfast 6:30 a.m.; 5k/10k/1 mile run, register 7 a.m. race at 8 a.m.; 11 a.m. parade from downtown market; old-time fair activities all day at Jonah Ministries, fair exhibits; raffles at 3 p.m.; three-on three basketball at 5 p.m.; star-gazing at school at 9 p.m.
