Trout Lake Fair celebrates 50 years with fun, food, and festivities

People from across the county gathered in Trout Lake last weekend for a variety of fun activities.

The weekend kicked off with a community potluck and a dance on Friday night, then the following morning the festivities got off to a racing start with a breakfast at the Trout Lake school before the 2015 5K/10K Run. At 11 a.m. a parade of fire engines, riders on horseback, and more led attendants out to the Jonah Ministries Camp for the 50th annual Trout Lake Fair.

The fair actually goes as far back as 1904, but, according to the Trout Lake Fair Web site, was "re-started in the 1950s by Betty Schmid, who wanted a way for her children to participate in 4H fair activities." Over the years ev...
