He worked for Brooks Memorial State Park, the Fenton Brothers and the O.K. Rubber Plant.

The Fentons moved to Beavercreek, OR in 1967. Faith was an important part of Wally's life and while attending church in Mulino, OR he was baptized in 1973. Wally worked at Brod & McClung as a sheet metal worker and welder until 1978.

At that time they moved back to Goldendale where he transitioned to developer and leader of a Christian ministry for disabled adults until 1987. Wally and Marlene moved to Pine Grove in 1997 where they built a home on seven acres; enjoying the rural community and frequent trips visiting children and their families.
