Timberwolves to open football at jamboree


High school football presents the first reminder that school is almost back in session. Football practice starts on Aug. 19, and there will be a new wrinkle to the start of the season for Goldendale. The first full game is against Columbia-White Salmon, as it has been for several years, but first action will be at a jamboree in Zillah on Aug. 28.

The jamboree will include Wapato, Naches Valley, Zillah and Goldendale. It will begin at 6 p.m. with about an hour of junior varsity play. Goldendale coach Chris Hill wasn’t sure if Goldendale will have enough players with the eight required practices to field a JV team, so it may be just varsity for Goldendale.
