Offense minded DeMott says Wolves will build on last year's foundation

FIRST DAY OF SOCCER: Goldendale's girls' soccer team began practice on Monday. Hailey Bigbie takes a shot under the watchful eye of assistant coach Stephen McCandless.

Goldendale soccer will have its third different head coach in as many years as Anna DeMott takes over this year, but there is continuity. DeMott was the assistant under Rick Johnson, who coached last year and recently moved to take the Chief of Police job in Deer Lodge, Mont. Johnson began to rebuild the soccer concept at Goldendale with a more offense-minded approach and expect that to continue under DeMott.

DeMott has coached soccer for 16 years. Her assistant is Stephen McCandless. DeMott says they are continuing to build on the solid foundation that was put in place last year. "We will continue to grow," says the new coach.
