Clyde Hites

Clyde David Hites was born in Minnesota on March 31, 1940 to parents Katherine (Farmer) and Fred Hites. He enlisted in the United States Army not once, but twice. After completing his military service, Clyde married Marjorie Alice Doughty in Kellogg, Idaho in 1963. The couple settled in Goldendale where Mr. Hites worked as a crane operator for the Goldendale Aluminum Plant, eventually retiring from that career.

Clyde and Marjorie were foster parents for Klickitat County for 20 years. During that time they cared for more than 500 children.

Clyde Hites passed away at his home in Goldendale on August 18, 2015 at the age of 74.

He is survived by his stepson Richard Frye of Goldendale; son and daughter-in-law John and Lora Hites of Goldendale; sister Kathy Eastwood of Idaho; and grandsons Royal and Chén Hites of Goldendale. He was preceded in death by his daughter Julie Hites, stepson Billy Frye and his wife Marjorie.

The family will celebrate Clyde’s life privately. To send condolences to the Hites family, please visit Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel handled cremation arrangements.
