Cougar football a maturing program

READY TO RUMBLE: The Lyle-Wishram Cougars went through agility drills during practice last week. The team is in action at Dufur, this Saturday morning.

Growth is a key word around Lyle-Wishram football. Growth, particularly with their coaching staff will be apparent this year.

There is no question that head coach Antoine Montoya knows football. But, maybe his best quality is that he is not afraid to identify what he does not know. When Montoya took over head coach duties at Lyle-Wishram last year, he was nervous because he said he never had to put together a game plan. The fact the team plays eight-man football probably made it more of a challenge, in spite of his years of playing the game at a high level.
